Four Common Misconceptions About Buying Panel Furniture

General wooden furniture can be divided into two types based on material composition: solid wood furniture and panel furniture. Panel furniture primarily uses engineered wood as the main material and features a modular structure with detachable components, making it popular among consumers due to its strong adaptability and relatively low cost.
However, there are more and more types of artificial boards on the market now, and the names of various boards are also varied. As an ordinary consumer, it is easy to be picky and difficult to choose a set of board furniture that satisfies oneself. At present, it is believed that many consumers are familiar with the names of artificial boards such as particleboard, fiberboard, and particleboard, but their understanding of these boards is sometimes not accurate enough. There are usually four major misconceptions:
Misconception 1: Particle board is more environmentally friendly than density board
At present, the majority of panel furniture boards in the market are particleboard and medium density board. Both types of boards are made by processing and crushing trees and adding adhesive, and the amount of adhesive determines their chemical composition, that is, their environmental friendliness.
Misconception 2: Joinery board is solid wood board
Finewood board, also known as large core board, is made by cutting raw wood into strips, splicing them into cores, and processing the outer surface material. Because the main material is solid wood, many salespeople will introduce it as an environmentally friendly board, but in fact, large core boards are also artificial boards containing adhesives.
Misconception 3: Solid wood particle board is a "new environmentally friendly product"
Due to the numerous indoor pollution cases caused by the use of medium density board and particleboard, which have not yet met national standards, in panel furniture, both of these boards have a poor reputation. Therefore, many salespeople have given new names to these two boards, misleading consumers.
The most common names are medium density board as particle board and particle board as particle board. Some salespeople also add the word "solid wood" in front of them to indicate that they are "natural and environmentally friendly" products. When consumers carefully asked about the difference between solid wood particleboard and solid wood, salespeople were vague and refused to admit their true identities: "Solid wood particleboard is made by pressing solid wood particles, and there must be a difference between it and solid wood. Panel furniture! But look at this price, can solid wood furniture be so cheap for the same environmentally friendly thing?" If consumers wander around and encounter seven or eight salespeople who say the same thing, can they not feel dizzy!
(Note: Particle board is not particleboard)
Misconception 4: Tri hydrogen ammonia board is equivalent to medium density board
Many salespeople will tell you that they use melamine board when introducing their products. When the reporter further asked what kind of board melamine board is, they were told: "melamine board is medium density board." Under the misleading of salespeople, consumers generally believe that melamine board is medium density board, and vice versa, medium density board is melamine board. In fact, this type of board is made by soaking colored or wood grain like paper in melamine transparent resin and then hot pressing it onto the surface of the substrate. After curing, melamine resin gives the veneer good physical properties such as wear resistance and scratch resistance, as well as a certain degree of resistance to light fire. The boards made with this material for veneers are called melamine boards, and the substrates are different. MDF, particleboard, etc. can all be made into melamine boards.
Note: The surface of melamine board looks like it has been painted, which is how it was ordered from the board factory. Other panels such as density boards need to be painted later on, and many wardrobe side and back panels of panel furniture are mostly made of melamine board.
